Rules - Moofspeak IRC Network

The Rules

Our Network Philosophy:

Our goal is to run one of the best Macintosh IRC networks around, and a network that all of our network users call home. A lot of our network operators are heavily involved in a number of various communities, but we go with the philosophy of hands off opering. That means that if you create a channel here, you can expect that the network opers will respect your channels rules and conventions.

We also want to bring a personal touch to our network, unlike some of the larger nets out there. Because of our smaller size our opers are more then willing to work with you on anything from bot help to adding channel statistics to your channel. Just feel free to ask any of our opers, they are all great and here to serve you!

The Network Rules:

Instead of focusing just on what you can't do, lets take a look at what you can do:

  1. Be helpful to all members if you can, but feel free to idle and just hang out too! If someone has a question, and you have time, feel free to answer it! Moofspeak is about the sharing of information. If you are here to troll, this network may not be for you.
  2. Feel free to join in any of our great channels!
  3. Got a cool idea that will spark conversation? Create a channel! Please don't spam about it though in other channels.
  4. Feel free to set up any type of friendly bot you want, as long as it doesn't create a network issue, its fine with us! However, *always* ask the channel owner if you are setting up a bot in an existing channel. It would be a good idea to mention in the network channel, #moofspeak, that you've set up a bot or bots and their nicks so the opers know what is going on in case there are problems later on.
  5. Have fun and relax! IRC should be a place to come and unwind.

Now.. Here is what we would rather not see...

  1. Do not spam the network, and respect the channel owners and network operator’s wishes relating to their channel or the network.
  2. Channel bans are between the ops and admins of a channel and the banned user(s). The network operators wont interfere in this.
  3. Network operators decisions are final. We try to welcome new users to our community of users, but sometimes as a new user you may be asked by a network operator to comply with a request. Network operators do represent our network, and we ask for your cooperation in complying with their decisions and their instructions.
  4. Do not post, link to, or otherwise distribute pornographic material which is considered to be illegal by international law.
  5. Please do not use channels for illegal file sharing.
  6. Please otherwise do not abuse services, such as registering nicks and channels purely to attack other people or channels.
  7. We try to keep the network as clean and as orderly as possible, but sometimes inappropriate things get through. By using this network, you assume all risks and liabilites assoicted with using this service. No warranty or duty of service is implied.

If you can't connect, please feel free to contact us using the link above.  If there is a message saying that you are k-lined or g-lined, please do NOT attempt to connect again until you have contacted us using the above link. We might think you're evading a ban and make it longer!

NB:

Of course, if anything goes wrong, blame nVidia_User. It's just something we do :).
